Debbie Mireles, 1961-2015

I originally posted this on Facebook, figured I'd put it on here too for memory's sake.

When I came into this world almost 48 years ago there was someone at home anxiously awaiting my arrival. That person was my sister, Debbie. My sister had to leave me behind when she left this world late Saturday night.

My sister was my protector, confidant, my beacon and my biggest fan. Every first, every success and heartache in my life always reached her ears first. There is or was no person in my life closer or more important to me.

Debbie leaves behind a husband, three fine sons and their burgeoning families. She also leaves behind a lifetime of memories and anecdotes that will be fondly recalled and retold for many years to come.

The world I live in is truly not as bright as it was a couple of days ago. But myself and all of the other people she touched in her lifetime will go on to live their lives the best they can, come happiness or sorrow. She waits for me at home now once again. I'll see you when I get there Debbie.

Another New Album!

Jeez, this is my second new album in the past week!  Man I've been doing a lot of writing and recording, LOL.  If you missed my other release (snicker) this week, here it is.

As always, special thanks to the Graphics Dept. at Heff's Custom Oddities for bringing my visions to life.

Wil's Pic of the Day

Got a new thing I'm doing over on Instagram, Wil's Pic of the Day.  I come across all kinds of wackiness out there on the internets so I figured I'd share some with my fan(s).  I know how excited all 3 of you must be.  I usually get one up most every day (talking about pics here).

Not This Time

My nephew, Ryan (#3), has a birthday coming up on August 16 (he'll be 22).  Perusing through the internets yesterday I saw this watch at a couple of different sites and I thought it was pretty cool looking and I have a feeling that he would too.

Upon doing a little investigating I discovered that it's a limited edition of 21 pieces by Richard Mille (whom I admit I hadn't hear of before).  It's only going for approx. $850,000 or so.  Yeah, probably not going to happen this year or lifetime for that matter.  Oh well, back to Amazon.

The Write Stuff

It seems that anywhere I go where they have pens or some other kind of swag to offer, I will go ahead and grab me one/some. Over the years I reckon I've gotten a few as you see here. This bout of anal retentiveness was prompted by my young niece asking me if I had a pencil she could use. I went to the drawer and managed to find one (I only had 3). After sharpening said pencil for her with one of my 2 pencil sharpeners (Wil loves him some office supplies, I am fully stocked at all times!) I decided it would be a good time to go through my pens and such.

Note the gold pen right under the keyboard.  That is my Cross Metropolis, the "signature" pen, if you will, of Wil Harrison

So I proceed to go through all of them one by one.  All were tested to see if they still worked, only lost 5 or 6.  As you can see on the left we also segregated the dastardly red pens and right above them the aforementioned 3 pencils.  I did NOT go so far as to separate the blacks from the blues, I do have some restraint, occasionally.  And now here comes the exciting part of this post!  The "notable" finds:

I can't believe I still have one of these.  I've had this Holiday Inn pencil since I worked there in 1985.  Yep, 30 years and 14 moves, still got it.  But wait, that's not all!

The pen shown above dates back to 1977!  It is from the "Woodcliff General Store" my family owned in Georgia.  Short story:  Back in 1976 or so my parents decided that they wanted to own their own business and thought it would be a good idea to sell our house in Crestwood and open a store near my Mom's family down in Georgia where she was from.  It wasn't.  The store closed after a whole year or so and we were back up here in Blue Island just over 2 years after we left for Georgia.  But hey, at least I got this pen!

Now see, wasn't that fascinating and fun?   I ask you, what's in your drawers?

RIP Jules Bianchi

Sad news out of Japan tonight that Jules Bianchi, 25, has succumbed to injuries sustained in a horrifying accident during the F1 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka back in October.  He suffered massive head injuries when his car slid under a tractor that was off the track assisting another driver that had crashed previously.  I was watching the race live that morning and the camera angle they were on didn't even really catch what had happened, all anyone saw was a blur and the tractor bouncing in the air.  After a few minutes the commentators figured out what had happened and they went to the other camera angle and everyone was stunned.  You could tell right away that this was a very serious crash.

Jules had been in a coma ever since and today his fight ended.  This is a terribly sad end to a very promising career and a very promising young life.  He is the first F1 driver to die in a race or because of injuries sustained in a race since the great Ayrton Senna was killed in 1994 at Imola.

I include video of the Jules Bianchi crash below for those who haven't seen it. It is not graphic but it is disturbing.

My thoughts and best wishes go out to the Bianchi family.  Jules will be missed by many.

Do You See What I See?

Woke up this morning looking at this painting sideways.  Do you see it, or it's probably just me. It could be a tumor.

"Angry Mountain"

Also, happy 239th Birthday America.

The event you see here actually happened. The names have been changed to protect the innocent, and the guilty. Happy 4th Birthday anyway Jocelyn, we're sorry.

Wil's New Amazon Echo!

Just got it hooked up, now to try it out with stupid random things off the top of my head.  I will definitely be doing more with this later, just wanted to throw something up for now.  She's amazing I tell ya!

All Your Personality Are Belong To Us?

So I did one of these stupid things on Facebook the other day and this is what I got as "The Story Behind Wil's Birth Date". Surprisingly this is actually pretty accurate. The thing that kills me is how it's worded. Who comes up with these things anyway? I know they're pretty much randomly generated but you'd think they could be worded a little better. Yeah, I know, slow day. It's just that I've been so engrossed in that damn Paul Stanley book...

Happy Birthday!

It turned out to be a fine 47th birthday celebration for Wil.  My family and I enjoyed delicious Aurelio's Pizza and a cake that was much too big but nonetheless tasty.  Here's how it went down.

Yes, I did question the choice of the cake with a rainbow on it.  Is someone trying to infer something here?  I just don't know.  And now, on to gifting!

Yes!  Pretty damn cool.  I've been gameless for the past 6-8 months, not that I'm a big gamer or anything.  I basically only play racing games and baseball, not very adventurous when it comes to games.  Can someone PLEASE put out a damn baseball game this year?

This is the Moen "Shaky Jimi" Vibe pedal.  I haven't totally put it through it's paces yet but I am definitely digging the "vibe" setting (it has a chorus setting also), very Hendrix like.  It's gotten pretty good reviews and for only $65 bucks or so a pretty good deal.

And what pedal would be complete without a Hendrix statue?  This beauty joins my previously purchased Ronnie James Dio statue in my burgeoning collection.  Check 'em out in action!

And last but certainly not least, a gift sent from Alabama, with love.  Heff and Donna were kind enough to send me this fine Paul Stanley autobiography which I will cherish for at least a year or so to come.  It had a few indecent sentiments and was signed by both in the inner cover.  The Piggly Wiggly wrapping was a plus.

So there you have it, another one in the books. Good day!

Touch Of Grey

Happy 47th (AHH!) Birthday to me tomorrow, January 20. I don't really have anything interesting to post (do I ever?) so I just figured I'd say this.

BUT, we do have some exciting new things coming up such as another installment of "Wil's Fun with Facial Hair" and of course the many exciting things that Wil got for his birthday which is always fun. Also, we are gonna take a look into Wil's eclectic and extensive library of actual books, which should be fascinating so stay tuned!

Tweeting With Celebs!

Today we add Kelly King to the long list that includes Guitar Extraordinaire Greg Koch, WGN's Nancy Loo and of course my bud, Lou Diamond Phillips!  Ok, that's actually the full list.  If you're not familiar with Ms. King, she is the current Viagra temptress as shown in the above Viagra "Cuddle Up" commercial spot.  Here is the delightful banter:

As you can see Wil commented on her post with a brilliant quip regarding the bear claw tubs in rival Cialis ads.

And then low and behold she replied to Wil with a fantastic emoji or emoticon or whatever they're called these days.  I am pretty sure this emoji stands for "I am a good, sturdy gal that would love to bear your spawn" or "I can tell you're NOT the kind of man that needs Viagra or will anytime soon, feel free to roger me roundly".

Stay tuned next time when Wil once again delves into the celeb world.  Could it be Erik Estrada?  Scott Baio?  Who knows!
